3 Tips For A Healthy Snack Station!

When it comes to snacking, I'm the first to admit at almost 16 weeks pregnant with our second, I just want to snack on everything in sight ( more junk than healthy ). However, I know I really needed to crack my sweet tooth and set a good example for my toddler when she goes to pick out her favorite snacks. I thought, why not create a Healthy Snack Station so everyone can pick their favorite things in one quick and easy way ( and believe me, if myself, my husband or my toddler get Hangry it's GAME OVER in our house! ) So, here if you're thinking of creating your own for your family, I've got three tips to help you out! 


1. Find A Container- The biggest issue with finding snacks to eat was finding snacks to eat. My refrigerator could be packed with cheese sticks, yogurt, fruit, and everything else but if it is not right in front of our face then it does not exist. My toddler and I need to have everything together and in one place. I think us adults are the same way. We like easy. Organize the snacks neatly in the drawer. I try to keep the snacks scannable. This way I can get a accurate read at the snack options with a quick glance. 
2. Have variety - A snack drawer is only as good as the snacks it contains so I think it is important to have a healthy variety. This keeps it interesting and provides choice. When kids have a choice over their food they are much more likely to eat what is in front of them. My snack drawer contains fruit (grapes or apples), various bars, bags of almonds, cheese sticks and RITZ Peanut Butter Filled Sandwich Crackers. My daughter 9 times out of 10 will always pick these for a snack when she comes home and I don't blame her! They are always a huge hit in our home and keep everyone feeling satisfied until dinner comes! I also love that they also have a  RITZ Cheese Filled Sandwich Crackers which is another favorite! 
3. Don't Temp Yourself- Having healthy snacks ready to eat is a great way to make sure your family has access to nutritious food in between meals. However, you still need to be careful that these snacks are being controlled. Those little bites and snacks add up quickly ( believe me after the 10th chocolate I just snaked on! ) . So just be aware of the temptations, track your food, and make adjustments if needed! It's super simple!
